Foster Care

Foster Care and Homelessness

The purpose of this project is to examine the connection between foster care and homelessness and to determine whether or not there is an over-representation of people with a foster care history in the homeless population.

Foster Club

Serves as our primary communication tool with youth. This web site is a hub of information relating to foster care, including articles, q+a, message boards, contests, discussion of foster care topics, and even biographies of famous people who grew up in care. It’s the resource that's available to youth 24/7.

White Shield Center

We started teaching yoga at White Shield in 2003.

The girls at White Shield range in age from 12-17. We have been teaching the longest in the Wildflowers program, where girls come to live for up to 3 months while waiting to be moved elsewhere by the State foster care system.

We have just taught our first nutrition/cooking class at the Cottagew

Youth Communication

Youth Communications has published Foster Care Youth United, founded in 1993, a magazine written by and for young people in foster care.

Mockingbird Times

The Mockingbird Times is a monthly newspaper designed and produced by young people who have experience with the Washington State foster care/group home system and/or homelessness.

We'd love to hear from you.
